ACT Creative Cube

What’s black and white and yellow all over? We printed this vibrant wrap and installed it with a protective laminate (to stand up to Michigan weather) for our friends at Artists Creating Together (ACT). The goal of the Creative Cube mobile studio is to empower individuals with disabilities to learn, grow, and celebrate through the arts. ACT provides art and creative expression programming that enriches the lives of people with and without disabilities throughout all of West Michigan. Good work for a good cause.

AIS Neocon - Merchandise Mart

Sometimes clients seek fully fabricated environments and other times they are looking for individual components to enhance a larger space. Meta4mat provides both. In the case of AIS, who doubled the size of their Merchandise Mart Showroom last year, Meta4mat was asked to help fabricate custom display cabinetry, wooden wayfinding signs, a demonstration cart, product displays, LED lighted signs and dimensional graphic components that included a hat display requiring a little surgical expertise as we had to cut foam heads to support the hats. Following Full Circle’s creative lead, we helped enhance an already stunning environment. In many ways, the AIS showroom is a showcase for Meta4mat's broad capabilities. We like that.

Atlas EPS World of Concrete

Iterative collaboration with our clients is among the building blocks of our success. In the case of Atlas/EPS, the metaphor became literal as we welcomed a semi load of foam blocks into our shop, the tallest of which was 16 feet. A combination of cut and printed vinyl was applied to the blocks, as well as dimensional letters and graphics - all strategically engineered to integrate with custom fabricated display cases, reception counters & a portable beer bar for the World of Concrete tradeshow in Las Vegas.

Atlas IBS 2020

Standing out at the International Builders Show, one of the largest tradeshows in the country, can be a daunting task. When Atlas Molded Products asked our friends at AUX Advertising & Design to come up with a unique way of displaying their ThermalStar product, AUX turned to Meta4mat for execution. The result was a construction environment with exposed studs, trusses, sample displays and even an interactive wall that allows attendees to pick up a pneumatic nail gun and try if for themselves. Collectively, we NAILED IT!

AUX-OAPC

Mobile environments are a specialty of Meta4mat. Most require both setup and teardown and we often have only days or hours to do both. That was the case when our friends at AUX asked us to partner with our business park neighbors, Aria, to help create a dramatic stage environment for an OAPC meeting at the Amway Grand Hotel. The stage set included a custom fabricated pyramid wall with lighted acrylic components, wall accents and a podium. Our contribution was produced entirely in-house at Meta4mat with our graphics, fabrication, acrylic display and installation teams.

Beacon Health

When contacted by Beacon Health to create a log cabin for the children’s play area at their South Bend facility, Meta4mat was given the challenge of creating a realistic cabin out of materials that met strict hospital requirements. Real wood was out, faux logs too expensive, PVC materials not durable enough, and painted surfaces were not allowed. After much deliberation and brainstorming we found a solution: composite decking. It was the right color, didn’t need to be finished, met both fire and cleaning requirements and, by its very nature, created a log cabin look when applied horizontally. The play center cabin was built in our facility in Grand Rapids in sections that could be disassembled and reassembled in South Bend.

CAT Booth Window

Working with the CAT Footwear Creative Team, our challenge was to create a window display reminiscent of the excitement of peeling back the layers of a neatly wrapped present. To do this, Meta4mat went in pursuit of a very specific "CAT yellow" paper stock. The yellow stock was mounted to vinyl, then CNC kiss-cut to facilitate the clients' desire to peel back the vinyl while actually tearing the paper on site. We also cut a new boot in half, mounting the toe to the front of the window and the heel to the back, simulating a new product kicking its way through the glass. The effect was enhanced even further with broken acrylic chunks laminated to the floor to appear as broken glass from the shoe striking the window. We love it when we're trusted to execute your creative vision.

Chaco

In collaboration with Auxiliary Advertising & Design, Meta4mat was tasked with creating a Pacific Northwest look for the Chaco trade show booth. The exterior walls were hand made from individual furring strips affixed to full size backer with adjustable feet to bear the significant weight of each panel. One of the more challenging components in the booth was a living wall with a custom irrigation system behind it to perpetually hydrate a myriad of living plants throughout the week-long event. Over 400 individual plants were used throughout the booth, many hanging from custom fabricated displays including bar stock steel brackets hand forged at Meta4mat.

Dekko

Who do you turn to when you need product display tables, a custom built bed, a stand-alone wall system that features LED signage, display shelving, monitors with digital players, and a graphic system to wrap all of the cement pillars on the 7th floor of the Merchandise Mart? Dekko, in partnership with Full Circle Marketing & Design, chose Meta4mat to execute their showroom concept. From cutting a bed frame to fit a custom built mattress to fabricating a modular wall system and wrapping each column with wooden frames to accommodate snap-on graphic panels, we were delighted to be part of transforming a generic, empty space into a dramatic and welcoming environment featuring an array of Dekko’s lighting products.

Full Circle Marketing & Design

We simply love the creative process, and working with the team at Full Circle Marketing & Design challenges us on all levels. In the case of their new work space, we mean that quite literally. Situated on four floors, the office offers the opportunity to create unique and individual environments within the overall space. Connecting each of the floors is an elevator with unconventional doors on each floor that required a little installation trickery to get vinyl lettering to wrap cleanly over the ornate accent molding. The custom crafted bar on the third floor customer/employee lounge was built around an existing refrigerator. Wall graphics accent the entire space including printed cork behind the dart board (to absorb the occasional errant throw) in the lounge. In the second floor conference room, magnets were embedded into vertical wooden slats on a privacy wall so concept drawings can be displayed in an innovative way. The entire effort was a great example of who you know and what you know aligning perfectly.

GFS Food Truck Build

Sometimes the process is as enjoyable as the final outcome. That was the case with the Relish Works/GFS Food Truck. Although we always start with CAD drawings, much of the truck's nuance was added during the fabrication process. From the hood ornament to the fully functioning drawer behind the grill, Meta4mat always endeavors to add value along the way. We share our customers enthusiasm and it often shows in our work, or so we're told.

Gordon Food Service Truck

How do you compete for attention at a trade show centered around free food samples? That was the challenge facing the creative team at Relish Works, a division of GFS tasked with imagining the future of the food industry. To help in their endeavor, Relish Works turned to Meta4mat to assist in creating an experience with equal amounts of visual intrigue and useful data. The result was a completely interactive food truck that engaged and informed attendees at every turn. Fabricated entirely at Meta4mat, the truck included an iPad registration station, divider towers with pulsating RGB/LED lighting, acrylic ballot boxes, Foodie I.D. stickers, and monitors with digital video loops. We also made the truck’s grill a drawer with power and USB outlets inside for booth attendants to stash and charge their devices. Work should always be this fun!

GR Airport Kids Waiting Room

Through a combined partnership with Helen DeVos Foundation, the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, and Level Design, Meta4mat was engaged to help update an existing children's waiting room in the pre-security area of the airport. Central to the design was a simulated control tower complete with LED lighting that doubled as a cover for an existing HVAC return duct. In addition to the tower, a custom padded floor, cut from various colors and welded together formed a runway design for a restored, vintage carnival ride helicopter. A two-sided window graphic as well as ceiling accents and wall vinyl completed the design.

Hudsonville Ice Cream

Working with Rocket Science and the Hudsonville Ice Cream marketing team, a simple and portable trade show booth was the original goal. Just make it light weight, easily assembled by the marketing team, storable in a compact, mobile crate that fit inside an existing trailer. Simple right? After a collaborative meeting with all parties, we settled on an all-wood design utilizing a hardware-less locking system for the hollow posts, beams and wall panels. We added a LED sign that cycled a changing color palette behind the Hudsonville logo, some framed wall graphics, and a locking literature cabinet on casters that doubled as additional storage during transport. It was tight, but we made it work.

ITC

ITC, a leading producer of lighting products for several industries approached Meta4mat with a challenge; How do we stand out in 10’ X 10’, rod & curtain tradeshow environments? To make it even more interesting, they wanted one solution for all six of their brands. Oh, and it had to work for either an aisle or a corner space. No problem, we developed a wall system that includes four equal panels that cam lock together. Three across the back for an aisle booth and two plus two locked at ninety degrees for a corner space. At the front of the booth is a reception desk with a front panel that can be customized by brand. Same for an overhead lighted sign. Finally, the wall graphics are magnetized so they can be changed for virtually every show. And since ITC manufacturers so many different products, we made shelf size and placement dynamic as well. Every brand now has customized booth, produced with an eye on economy and flexibility. Challenge met!

Manning’s Hometown BBQ

We love the entrepreneurial spirit, so when Derek and Amy Manning decided to turn their passion into a business, we were glad to play a part. Their award-winning BBQ was getting so much attention that they decided to take it on the road. To do that, they started with a brand new, bright red trailer and then turned to Meta4mat for a little creative guidance. The results are a fun and festive design that captures the essence of outdoor barbecuing featuring their distinctive logo, lots of flame and all the information you need to contact them for your next outing or event. Check them out on Facebook at Mannings Hometown BBQ.

Meijer

When tasked with restoring and maintaining the Meijer vintage truck fleet (yes, there are actually two original trucks), Pentalutions turned to Meta4mat to help create vintage signage using old photographs taken from the Meijer archives. The signs had to be durable enough to withstand the outdoor elements while employing a hidden anchoring system. We knew just what to do and the results have been traveling around the Midwest ever since.

Metro Health

Meta4mat was approached by our friends at DDM to help build a lasting wall mural for Metro Health Hospital in celebration of seventy-five years of serving the community. The design was to showcase both the Hospital’s past and present, as well as highlighting its many dedicated employees. At the heart of the display is a seven-foot-tall 75 fabricated from metal with an acrylic front featuring lighted images from the past seventy-five years. The back of the sign has LED lights that project backwards creating a halo effect. Dimensional letters surround the display for added context. Although we always prefer a little breathing room, the deadline was so tight on this one that it was installed the day of an evening dedication and just one day before the official unveiling. Whew!

Munters

Munters, a global leader in energy efficient agricultural and horticultural ventilation systems, approached Meta4mat for ideas regarding the rapidly approaching IPPE show. The challenge was put very succinctly; “We need to appear like we belong here”. Munters needed a solution that allowed them to fill large spaces for some shows and smaller spaces for others. To accommodate, we fabricated a 16’ tall tower with an 8’ square footprint featuring functioning products, video loops, branded graphics and a spring-loaded hidden door for entry into the tower. Each corner of the tower has a universal radiused corner piece. For larger spaces, the corner pieces on any one side can be removed and a descending wall complete with planters can be cam-locked into the corner instead, integrating perfectly with all the other components while creating a much larger presence. As a bonus, we learned a ton about the importance of climate control relative to chicken egg production.

North Channel Brewing

When challenged by Studio Wise to help create a visually stunning backdrop for the North Channel Brewing Company in Manistee, Michigan, Meta4mat responded by printing a vintage image of the Edmond Fitzgerald on fabricated metal panels combined with an eight foot diameter dimensional custom painted logo that was pin mounted to the panels. If you visit Manistee anytime soon, stop in and have a look (and a craft beer or two).

OMT-VEYHL Neocon 2018

Neocon is always an exciting time to be part of the environments industry. This year, we collaborated with Full Circle Marketing & Design in producing OMT-VEYHL's showroom. The 20' x 10' space consisted of floor to ceiling birch walls, framed by two large planters at the entrance, as well as a custom bar and an entertainment center. Framed pictures and vinyl graphics were the perfect accents to this eye-catching showroom.

OMT-VEYHL Neocon 2019

NeoCon is often referred to as Mart Madness and that is especially true on the 7th floor, where the spaces are smaller and the competition more intense. To create a welcoming environment among the cement pillars, OMT-Veyhl turned to Full Circle Marketing & Design to come up with a way to feature OMT’s pneumatic furniture products in a warm and friendly atmosphere. To do that, a design featuring custom built planters created an inviting threshold at the front of the booth. We used light-toned wood for the walls and product display furniture, a seating area with soft lighting, and a dramatic accent wall with a bold geometric relief. Meta4mat was happy to be part of this custom booth solution.

Spartan Motors Anvil

Want to see a "weigh" cool project? Our friends at Authenticity asked us to make this custom fabricated anvil for Spartan Motors. Crafted from a specialty lightweight wood product and finished with a textured paint that gave it the look and feel of real metal, our anvil was able to hang ominously over an admiring crowd during a recent tradeshow. (Don't worry - although 60" square at the base, it weighed in at a mere 67 pounds.) We think outside the box at Meta4mat - and, frequently, with the right hardware and cabling, the sky's the limit.

Spartan Motors Push Start Kiosk

Our friends at Authenticity approached Meta4mat when Spartan Motors announced it was adding a push button ignition feature to many of their trucks. Using Bluetooth technology, Meta4mat created a wireless kiosk incorporating the actual ignition button. The kiosk was positioned about 15 feet away from a full-size tractor with a series of speakers and a sub-woofer hidden inside and below the cab. When tradeshow attendees pushed the start button, a programmed audio loop would activate and the rumbling sound of a diesel engine would fill the room. If attention is what you seek, Meta4mat can help you get noticed.

Spectrum Health – All of Us

When Spectrum Health partnered with the All of Us initiative, a research community of one million people who share their unique health data in order to aid in developing specialized treatments, the first thing they did was turn to Meta4mat to help create kiosks for hospitals across the country. After the initial testing phase, we were then asked to help develop a unique environment for the All of Us offices located throughout the Spectrum Health system. The result was a proprietary office system that includes acrylic wall partitions, LED enhanced reception stations, and lab desks with integrated branding graphics inside and outside of the offices.

Spectrum Health – All of Us DNA Kiosk

Meta4mat was asked to take a simple artist concept and help create an interactive kiosk designed to recruit users to donate blood and DNA for the purpose of vaccine research through the National Institution of Health. From full-sized pencil drawings, we created a wooden prototype complete with an interactive touch screen monitor and an acrylic etched DNA helix inspired by ideas hatched by the Meta4mat team. The kiosk is currently being test marketed and has been so well received that orders are coming in on a national level from all around the country.

tbx

When Nate from tbx called and said "I hear you guys do great work" we did not quibble. Having recently moved into a new space, tbx was looking for a few accents to complete their decor vision. The most prominent of which is an LED lit dimensional sign installed on the front of their refurbished reception desk. In the backdrop is a tone-on-tone graphic featuring gloss lettering on a matte black wall. A retrospective mural covers a conference room wall while additional branding highlights the rest of their space. Nature chimed in as well. The vinyl tbx logo applied to the glass front door, when hit by light from the hall, casts a perfect shadow unto a blank wall inside the lobby. Although we can't guarantee a natural phenomenon every time you work with us, we're quite certain the experience will be phenomenal.

The Mitten State

Meta4mat collaborated with local A & D firm Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr, & Huber (FTCH) on a design developed for The Mitten State. Most formidably was a point of sale backdrop made from 1400 individual cut pieces of wood. Also included was a custom front window display with hidden lower storage, a wood framed dressing room with a sliding barn door, and an LED display highlighting key moments in the city's history. A slat wall engineered to look like retracted high school bleachers as well as graphics featuring famous Michigan personalities were added. The west side is indeed the best side.

Wolverine Leathers Lineapelle

We love a challenge and, in the case of Wolverine Leathers, it was "How do we produce a game changing tradeshow booth and get it to Milan, Italy... in three weeks?" Oh, and everything must be light weight and pack in a single four foot square crate. No problem! Guided by our friends at Fluis Brands, Inc., we fabricated wood look panels that rolled into manageable tubes. We created a display wall in six stackable sections with wood dowel pegs and shelves for optimum flexibility (and portability). Finally, we fabricated three tables with removable legs including a craft paper dispenser and cutter on one of them. I guess this means we're international now.

Wolverine Worldwide Airport Display

We’re a flexible bunch at Meta4mat so when we were approached by Wolverine World Wide and their technology partner, Freshwasher Digital, about contributing to a wall mural at the Gerald R Ford International Airport, we were all in. Wolverine was assigned a specific wall along concourse B and the build included a combination of wood, acrylic, and custom WWW leather to showcase their products. The permanent structure also needed to accommodate product and graphic changes. Nothing we haven’t done before, except this time they needed us to work between the hours of midnight and six AM. The final design featured printed acrylic images, frosted acrylic logos, original Wolverine leathers, and black acrylic framed TV screens all surrounded by natural woods and dimensional letters. A can-do attitude and a little extra caffeine was all it took!
